The Boy is a slick thriller flick with a handful of solid jump-out scares and some decent creeps-into-your spine moments. The film is a little bit bloated as it contained overdue conversations and slow phasing. The film’s major downfall was the plot itself. The Boy did not actually tell the story. It was made to scare us a bit and exhaust its audience with gaps and unnecessary sequences making the film too long. It has the Annabelle-type formula and indirect scare techniques. However, the film ended in a blank state despite a good climax. For the record, I didn’t see any justifiable connections with The Boy & Annabelle. 3/5 stars.
