WHAT I LIKE?
Geostorm is very timely especially it talks about Climate Change. What I like about the movie is its interesting take on controlling Climae Change through a certain technology built by several countries around the world. The movie has the basic formula of a disaster-inspired movie. From the drama, thrills, action and a little bit of mystery – Geostorm has adequate amount of each category. The movie’s overall phasing was direct and fast. It started immediately with the main plot and supported by a series of investigative and catastrophic scenes you expect in this genre. It offers a decent serving of suspense. The movie is also acted by good actors and actresses spearheaded by Gerard Butler. This B-disaster movie is generally satisfying when you lower down your expectations.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE?
Geostorm tries so hard to become a copycat of 2012, War of the Worlds, Deep Impact and Amarggedon but comes a bit short in beating these film giants in the disaster-movie genre. Geostorm lacks primary ingredients in the genre. Somehow, it lacks plot development on the interesting source material. They put focus on some dramatic scenes rathern than investing much on the plot should d to the loss of mystery and excitement already to begin with. Also, I did not find the visual editing impressive enough. Lots of the scenes were to CGI-ish and some were badly edited I guess. Somehow I was managed upon seeing their trailer, the movie is as good as a round of popcorn patnered with a bottled water. Easily forgetable and did not even belong to my Top 5 Disaster movies of all time. You may or may not watch this on theater.
