WHAT I LIKE?

Mission Impossible Fall Out is truly the best in the franchise plus for me, the best action movie Hollywood ever made so far. This 7th installment of the MI Series offers top-notch visual editing, impressive action sequences staging and definitely a very memorable and high-octane thrills that will leave you hanging at the edge of your seats most of the time. What I like about MI7 is that it can stand alone as an MI movie with a very decent and nostalgic reference to some of the plot’s original characters. As expected, the movie never failed to glue my attention and made me solidly engaged from beginning to end. What’s more impressive is the staging of man-to-man stunts and the very brilliantly-executed sequences that veer away from using too much CGI for it to become visually-engaging. At some point, it feels like I am watching a 3D movie. The Production design was superb. London & Paris were both a good choice. The plot was laid down very well. I like how the Director still got through on overused formula in the MI Franchise and made it entirely new even on its 7th installment. Characters-wise, Mission Impossible Fall Out got all the right characters in. Tom Cruise still delivers as one of the best action star in today’s generation. Henry Cavill’s addition was such a delight too. Watch out for some returning characters that will truly add spice especially if you are an MI fan ever since. Hats off to MI7 for redefining how action films should be done today. Highly-recommended to everyone.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE?

Well, a shirtless Henry Cavill could have made it even greater LOL. Kidding aside, no reason not to love MI 7. This was just pure madness.

WHAT I LIKE?

It was quite a very great move to resurrect a well-loved Mummy-inspired film that has changed the tone of adventure films in the 90’s. Moreover, The Mummy (2017) is the start of the Dark Universe series set by Universal Pictures so expect sequels and follow-ups on this one. The movie was a great modern adaptation that benefited from modern-day cinema magic. The movie is visually-stunning. I loved the Cinematography and the editing is on-point. Visual effects were impressive. Also, Production design during the ancient times were staged well and the London-setting was also a good choice. Plot-wise, Universal had to introduce a separate ancient character for them to establish the Universe thing and I think they did pretty well in introducing the whole Mummy series especially to non-fans of the genre. The phasing was just right and I love the succession of the sequences until a very thrilling climax. They invested mostly on the modern part of the whole storyline. The comedy punch was also a good spice of the tone of the movie. The Mummy is also packed with several thrilling moments that will definitely give a handful of decent screams and edge-of-the-seat moments. Also, I loved the characters. Tom Cruise was actually fit for the role and I am impressed with his stunts on the film. Annabelle was a good partner too and their chemistry is strong as well. Sofia was a badass villain here. Loved that this film gave her such a huge break in acting. She was great too. Russell was a good addition in the franchise also. Well, setting aside some flaws, The Mummy is one Hollywood’s best in terms of the Suspense-Action-Science-fiction genre that is worth-watching.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE?

Unlike the original series, The 2017 Mummy somehow lacks charm and action formula I expected on the franchise. Its maybe because there were less desert scenes which should have been more considering its a first modern revamp of the franchise. I was finding that exciting desert and temple chases. At some weird point, the comedy punch is not working on some scenes. Also, they should have extended the London destruction scene. It feels like they were less distraction on the surroundings this time.  Despite its flaws, I still enjoyed the whole movie from beginning to end.
