WHAT I LIKE?
I will review Ghost in the Shell based on the movie alone since I don’t have any idea of its roots as a Japanese Manga. This futuristic movie has impressed me technically in terms visual editing, cinematography, sound engineering and production design. The whole movie is so eye-candy to watch. I really like the futuristic set-up of the whole film. It was actually not exaggerated at all. Aside from that, I commend the Director for paying honor to its origins. The movie is an entire futuristic set-up of Japan with majority of its actors and actresses are Japanese of course. Loved the cyber-visuals from skyscrapers to highways. The action formula is well-done too. The plot is very organized as well and it was laid down properly especially to those audience who don’t have any ideas about the movie. Aside from that, this movie brought out one of Scarlett Johansson’s finest performance yet.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE?
Its dark, serious and monotonous as a whole. Overall, it was pleasing to the eyes but it was less appealing for me in terms of plot and material. Maybe because I am not a fan of futuristic films or Japanese Manga. But hey, I loved Terminator the least. Ghost in the Shell was not my cup of tea. Despite the movie giving a decent interpretation, the whole plot and the tone was a little bit off. That goes for me. For the love of Scarlett Johansson, why not.
